CashStar Wins IMA Circle of Excellence Award for Best Consumer Promotion Program

CashStar, the digital gifting and incentives company, announced today that it has won a Circle of Excellence Award for Best Consumer Promotion Program from The Incentive Marketing Association (IMA), together with customer CVS/pharmacy. The award, based on a broad range of criteria including scope of the program, creativity and results, recognizes the Give One, Get One (GOGO™) program designed to drive 2009 holiday sales of the company’s digital gift card offering.

“This year’s field of Circle of Excellence Award entries was the most competitive in the program’s history,” explained IMA executive director Karen Renk CAE. “The holiday GOGO program is an outstanding example of how an incentive program can be used as an effective business tool to meet specific corporate objectives.”

CVS/pharmacy sought to provide consumers with an incentive to buy digital gift cards, drive in-store sales and engage consumers in an unparalleled manner during the critical holiday season in a challenging retail environment. Together with CashStar, CVS/pharmacy developed a custom GOGO, where CVS/pharmacy gave $5 for every $25 digital gift card purchased during the season. The companies also devised an integrated marketing strategy, which combined online and email promotions with social media marketing, including communication with influential consumer bloggers who cover retailer holiday promotions and could help drive word of mouth authentically. As a result, CVS/pharmacy successfully increased sales, attracted new customers and increased the face value of the digital gift cards sold through the offered incentive.
