In partnership with CashStar, Best Buy Canada has implemented an innovative eGift Card solution that delivers the first opportunity ever for Canadian consumers to personalize eGift Cards. Consumers can conveniently purchase and send digital Gift Cards through email or Facebook via bestbuy.ca. They can choose their favorite card design and customize the card with a message and choose to send instantly or wait until a specific day. Unlike other retailers, Best Buy’s digital Gift Card goes far beyond offering just a plastic card – it offers the benefits of convenience and a new level of personalization (including French and English languages) that cannot be offered with plastic Gift Cards
Best Buy Canada wanted to drive incremental gift card sales while supporting its multi-channel strategy to provide customer friendly solutions across all channels (in-store, online, social). It required a solution that could be deployed quickly, in time to drive sales during the Christmas and Boxing Day holidays.
eGift Cards that are convenient, easy to purchase, delivered instantly and able to be personalized for recipients, fit the requirements Best Buy Canada established. With CashStar’s help, Best Buy’s eGift card program launched in December, just in time for holiday shoppers to send a personalized gift card to arrive Christmas morning. Or, if they so desired, gifters had the choice to even send a gift card to a recipient of their choosing, anywhere in Canada, within a matter of minutes. And just like Best Buy’s web shopping platform, its eGift Card offering features both French and English languages, an important detail for enabling consumer to give personalized gifts.
Since launching in December 2011, the program is realizing incremental gift card sales. Personalization has been a key driver to the success of the program as nine out of ten consumers choose to personalize their eGift cards.
