Apple’s Passbook is Here: Sephora and CashStar are Live
Consumers can now conveniently store and redeem eGifts from their iPhones with the much-anticipated Passbook app in Apple’s iOS 6 platform. Passbook enables eGifts to be stored and accessed alongside movie tickets, boarding passes, loyalty cards and coupons.
CashStar’s first Passbook implementation was with Sephora, the leading beauty specialty retailer. “All of our technology efforts are to ensure the client experience is smart, easy and most importantly helpful,” said Bridget Dolan, vice president of digital marketing at Sephora. “By partnering with CashStar, we are making the gifting experience at Sephora even more convenient.”
eGifts can be purchased from the Sephora To Go App for iPhone and stored or accessed through Passbook. In the near future, CashStar will be including Passbook across its retail partner brands, enabling millions of consumers to carry their eGifts in iPhones everywhere.
“Apple is changing the mobile landscape with Passbook,” said David Stone, CEO and co-founder of CashStar. “Consumers are increasingly telling us they don’t like the hassle of carrying plastic gift cards. Passbook is going to be a major driver of adoption as eGifts move from the back of the wallet to top-of-mind.”
iPhone users who purchase an eGift from a CashStar partner will be able to simply click on their eGifts to add them to Passbook. They will then be able to easily organize the eGifts, view remaining balances and redeem the eGifts right from Passbook. With Passbook’s location-based capabilities, eGift recipients will also have the option to receive alert reminders when they are on-the-go and near retail locations where they can use their eGifts.
