When David Stone founded the e-gift card company CashStar five years ago, he knew that he was onto something big.

Although the U.S. gift card market has grown to more than $26 billion by 2007, the e-gifting landscape was “almost nonexistent at the time,” says Stone. He could see how quickly the world was moving online, and understood the convenience of being able to send a gift through email to people in distant locations.
