Social media’s impact on shopping behavior is accelerating at a faster rate than any other channel. According to Internet Retailer’s 2016 Social Media 500 study, social media directly influenced $3.9 billion in retail purchases in 2015 – a 42.5 percent increase from $2.73 billion in 2014. With Americans checking their social media accounts a staggering 17 times a day, merchants that find authentic and impactful ways of engaging consumers through social media are best positioned to benefit as social media influence on purchase decisions continues to grow.
To help merchants take advantage of the opportunity, today we are launching CashStar Social Engagement, a new marketing innovation that allows retailers and restaurants to use gift cards and other digital incentives to engage consumers via social channels. With this new capability, our clients’ social marketing and customer care teams can now securely use gift cards to run flash promotions, reward loyalty, and resolve service issues through social channels.
Historically, merchants have had to switch from public to private channels to deliver rewards to specific individuals or groups. Our new solution enables retailers to issue gift cards and digital incentives for all of a recipient’s followers to see, while guaranteeing that only the intended recipient can claim the reward. The added visibility enabled by CashStar Social Engagement strengthens brand loyalty and deepens social connection with the merchant.
Another important benefit is that CashStar Social Engagement uses gift cards and other trackable incentives, so merchants can directly measure the impact and ROI of these social programs – even down to the level of each individual that is engaged via a reward. This is a great win for merchants that want to drive direct revenue through social channels in a more socially acceptable way than through advertising.
We’re excited to unveil this new solution this week at Shoptalk, so please swing by our booth #T28-B if you’re at the show or for more information or to schedule a demo.
