  • Ben Kaplan, President & CEO

    Ben Kaplan

    President and CEO

    Ben Kaplan brings twenty years of experience to CashStar in senior operations, marketing, and product roles at software, e-commerce, loyalty marketing and payments companies. Most recently, he was Chief Operating Officer at Cartera Commerce, a leading provider of card-linked marketing solutions for merchants, banks, and loyalty programs. Prior to Cartera, Ben was Vice President of Marketing for KNOVA Software and Vice President of Marketing for North Systems, directing marketing and product management at both companies. Earlier in his career, he held product marketing and product management positions at Broadbase and Commerce One. Ben is a graduate of Harvard College.

  • Tim Brewer

    Vice President, Engineering & Solution Delivery

    Tim oversees our Product, Engineering, Risk, and Operations functions. He also serves as our Information Security Officer. Tim brings more than 17 years of hands-on software product development and information technology leadership. Before CashStar, he held Vice President and Senior Management positions at Computer Science Corporation (CSC), IDEXX Laboratories, and L.L. Bean. He also was the co-founder and Principal of Risus Consulting LLC, an IT software engineering service provider.

  • Katherine Edenbach

    Vice President, Finance

    As Vice President of Finance, Katherine leads CashStar’s accounting and settlement operations functions. Katherine has twenty years of experience in accounting and finance, including audit, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), treasury, and accounting systems and software. Prior to joining CashStar, Katherine served as Director of FP&A at WEX, Inc., a leader in corporate prepaid payment solutions. She previously held finance and accounting roles at Fairchild Semiconductor, including Corporate Controller, after beginning her career at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Katherine graduated from Boston College with a degree in accounting.

  • Dan Farrell

    Vice President, Worldwide Sales

    Dan helps leading retailers maximize their holistic Gift Card Programs by ensuring consumers have access to best-in-class gifting experiences. He is a proven executive with 17 years of print, manufacturing, and sales experience.  He brings 13 years of deep expertise in financial services, card production and distribution. Prior to joining CashStar, Dan spent seven years building and managing the largest global portfolio of prepaid card products and services for First Data Corp where he was recognized as a driver of innovation, process improvements, and exceptional quality. Dan lives in a suburb of Denver, Colorado, and is an accomplished private pilot and avid golfer.

  • Gerry Gilbert

    Vice President, Product

    Gerry has twenty years experience in the payments and software industry and deep expertise leading product strategy, management and development for payment-related products. Prior to joining CashStar Gerry was a Group Manager at Intuit’s Payments Solution Division where he led teams building merchant focused self-service and CRM solutions. Before that Gerry held various product management positions at Electronic Clearing House, CyberSource and Chase Paymentech. Gerry graduated from Saint Anselm College.

  • Martin Hood

    Vice President, Channel Partnerships

    Martin leads CashStar’s B2B partner sales and the Partner Success team. He has over 25 years of sales and sales management experience in the credit card, merchant services and prepaid space. Prior to joining CashStar, he spent 17 years in varying and various roles at Blackhawk Engagement Solutions (legacy AEIS /Intelispend) including being a member of the original executive team of the joint venture formed by Maritz and American Express in 1998. His domain expertise in building high performing sales teams and channel distribution models has been his forte in the Prepaid B2B marketplace. Prior to joining to Blackhawk Martin was Director, New Business Partnerships at American Express Company in New York City. He resides in St Louis Mo with his wife and 5 children.

  • Matt Kerper

    Vice President, Strategic Business Development

    Matt brings 20 years of prepaid and payments technology experience to CashStar, where he leads the company’s efforts to establish and grow strategic partnerships. Previously, Matt served as director, gift cards for eBay, he led business development for the eBay gift card in retail, B2B and online channels and third-party gift card distribution on the eBay marketplace. Prior to eBay, he was head of sales, prepaid programs for PayPal, driving revenue growth and managing strategic partnerships for a suite of retail products. Matt also worked in business development on Google’s GeoCommerce team, where he focused on Google Wallet and was responsible for the partnerships with financial institutions and processors within the debit, credit and prepaid industries. He joined Google after its acquisition of TxVia, where he was vice president of business development. Before joining TxVia, Kerper was vice president, rewards strategy and innovation for Parago, a provider of reward-based incentives and rebate solutions. Matt is an active volunteer firefighter in Double Oak Texas where he resides with his wife and two children.

  • Nate Smith, Vice President Marketing

    Nate Smith

    Vice President, Marketing

    Nate leads CashStar’s strategic marketing, product marketing, corporate communications and lead generation efforts. He brings more than twenty years of B2B SaaS experience in both marketing strategy and execution, as well as product management and design. Most recently he was Vice President of Product at Achievers, a leading rewards and recognition platform acquired by Blackhawk in 2015. Earlier in his career Nate held senior marketing and product management roles at Monster, Yahoo! and Recruitment. A native of Maine, Nate returned to Portland with his family after working in the San Francisco Bay Area for over 15 years. He is a graduate of Princeton University.

  • Terry Sutton

    Vice President, Client Success

    Terry brings more than twenty years of retail and e-commerce experience to her role at CashStar, where she leads the Client Success team. Sutton held multiple executive posts at L.L.Bean over a 20-year career, including senior vice president of corporate marketing and e-commerce, in which she was responsible for $1 billion in sales through LLBean.com and catalog marketing. Immediately prior to joining CashStar, Terry served as the COO at DAVO Technologies, a leading provider of SaaS software that helps small businesses collect, pay and manage state sales tax.

    Sutton has been a featured speaker at industry-leading trade shows and events such as Shop.org’s Digital Summit, NRF’s Big Show, DMA Annual Conference, and Finovate. In addition, she serves on the boards of Preble Street, a non-profit tackling homelessness and poverty in Portland, Maine, Geiger, a promotional products company, and the University of Maine’s Board of Trustees. Terry earned her degree in mechanical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and completed her MBA at Harvard Business School.

  • Larry Weissbach

    Vice President, Operations

    A seasoned leader in technology, payments and operations management, Larry draws upon a diverse background that spans Fortune 500 companies, tech start-ups and international enterprises. As Vice President of Operations, Larry is responsible for the company’s payments, customer care and risk operations. Previously Larry served for five-plus years as CashStar’s Vice President of Client Success, helping client brands grow their gift card programs with innovative strategies.

    Before joining CashStar, Larry was Vice President of Customer Services at Cubic, the global leader in payment systems for the transport industry including New York City’s Metro Card, London’s Oyster Card, and Washington D.C.’s SmarTrip program. Previously Larry had served as President and GM of the U.S. division of Vix Technology, an Australian payments company also in the transit space. Prior to that he was a Vice President at General Signal Corporation and a Project Director at FMC Corporation where he ran a joint venture that delivered systems and equipment to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport. He spent eight years at General Electric Company’s Aircraft Engines division where he was groomed in GE’s manufacturing development program and held a host of operational management positions. Larry earned his undergraduate degree at Boston College and received his MSEE, Electrical Engineering, from Boston University.
